I've been blogging over at my photo blog, Everyday Images by Anita, as there hasn't been a lot of time for lengthy, thoughtful posts.
Thought I'd copy my last post from there so you can sneak a peak at what's been happening. I promise I'll be back soon with more. Lots going on in my head and heart at the moment. I will get it down in writing as I feel ready. For now.......
"Here's my latest wooly creation - handknitted slippers to keep my toes
all warm and cosy as the weather starts to chill a little. I used pure
wool yarn left over from the granny-rug I made last winter. I remember
my grandmother making us things like this - at the time I thought they
were terribly daggy. Now I love them! And now I know how much time and
love went into Mama's handcrafted gifts - I wish she was still around
so that I could thank her."
Thanks for stopping by. Back very soon, I promise. Love Anita. xxx
Just a quick one today as I'm about to head out the door to my NAET appointment. This morning I made this card for my sweet cousin who is getting married on Easter Saturday.
Must run, but make sure you head over to Kirsty's to check out more creative spaces. I'll be back with more later. Have a good one! Love Anita. xxx
Dan is working extra hours this week so I'm trying to get organised for meals and snacks for the week. I have to make sure my man is well looked after whilst he's working extra hard to look after our family. So this morning I've baked some choc chip biscuits, some honey joys and a loaf of bread is in the breadmaker as we speak.
Of course, I had to get the camera out and take a couple of pics for blog-land and Flickr :)
Don't they look yummy? Dan and Jayden love these - Corey's not really into them so I made the honey joys for him. Now I reckon I deserve a cup of tea and a biscuit before school gets out. Anyone want to join me?
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope your Monday is a happy one!
Just a quick post to let you know that the lovely Rhonda Hetzel has featured my kitchen today in her "You, me and the kitchen sink" series. You can read about it at her fantastic blog "Down---to---Earth". Rhonda's blog has been such an inspiration to me over the last year or so. Her daily writings have really helped me to embrace this time of being "at home" and see it for the blessing it is. Thankyou Rhonda, for sharing your thoughts and wisdom with all of us in blog-land. Love Anita. xxx
(Another amazing sunset captured from our driveway last night)
Good morning everyone. I had a little tidy up in my craft room last night, and inspired by the sight of some clear bench space (lol!) I decided to have a play with some of my little felt flowers from Stampin' Up!. First I made the hair clip and then I whipped up the card.
I attached the flowers to a base of template plastic with brads and then attached it all to a hairclip base which I bought from Spotlight.
My hair is quite long at the moment, and I don't like having it hanging down in my face, so I've always loved pretty hairclips, ties and ribbons. I think this clip fits the bill perfectly. Thanks so much for dropping in this morning. I'll have more to share with you very soon. Have a lovely, peaceful Sunday! Love Anita. xxx
I know, I know.....I haven't been around much lately.....but I have been keeping up with my photo-a-day project (pretty much) so you can always pop over to my other blog Everyday Images by Anita to see what I've been seeing.
In all honesty I just haven't had that much to blog about lately. Life is consumed by running kids around to basketball, basketball training, swimming, sports carnivals, birthday parties etc. In between those times I have been driving down to Mitcham twice a week for my NAET treatments. I've had about a dozen treatments so far and I have to say, there has been an improvement in my overall health. The progress is slow - way too slow for impatient me - but it is progress nonetheless. I am still having "rough" days where I feel pretty ordinary (such as today) but I try to put them in perspective. Overall, things are improving.
I have also had to admit, in the last week or so, that I need to go back to work as we can't manage on one income any more. I am reluctant to go back to the high stress profession of nursing, but quite frankly, not much out there pays as well as nursing does (without significant retraining or higher education which is not an option at the moment). So I am preparing for a return to some nursing shifts (agency work) after the school holidays. I hope I am better able to cope with the stress and the workload now that my health is beginning to improve. I'm trying to be upbeat and positive about this change......hmmmm.....not sure I'm doing a very convincing job of it. Anyway, we'll see how it goes. If it has a negative impact on my health then we will have to come up with another plan. Wish me luck!
Creatively, I've been a bit slow too. I have been knitting a few dishcloths and making a few cards (which I haven't photographed). I have been doing a bit of reading about photography, because I'd really love to get out of the habit of taking all my photos in "Auto" mode on my beautiful Nikon D90! I am learning the basics, little by little, and I've been experimenting with setting the aperture and shutter speed on my camera. It is good to "have a play" and see what settings cause what effect on the finished images. I would love to sign up for a course sometime, but it's not possible at the moment unfortunately. So I'll continue to read, and read, and read - I love my local library! There are all sorts of new skills to learn and practise once you start exploring the library's shelves. Here are a few photos I've taken recently - you may have seen some of these over at my other blog.
The afternoon/early evening sunlight looked to pretty shining though the glass on our kitchen buffet. The pretty teacup was handed down to me by my Mama.
A light shower of rain left our lettuce looking extra yummy...
She is super cheeky, a bit distructive, messy and quite untrained, but how could you be upset with her when she has a face like this??
More lovely cotton dishcloths/washcloths bound for my Etsy shop Anita Meade Creations....
Jayden running his long legs off at his school house sports carnival.....
Corey's beautiful artwork - a flower made from plastic cup, a straw and some shiny bits and pieces. He put it in a vase to have on the dinner table.....cute!
And finally one more of Jayden - he's full of bright ideas. When an old lamp went out for the hard-rubbish collection, he saved to bulb, just to pose for this silly photo.
So that's what's been going on around here. Hope all is well in your little corner of the world. Thanks so much for stopping by today. I know that my friends out there in blogland will still come and visit even when my posts seem to be few and far between! lol!
I'll try to return with something a little more creative soon.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that I'd fallen off the face of the earth, but I'm here to reassure you I have not! I've been busy focussing on my NAET treatments and trying to "keep the wheels from falling off" around here.
I thought it was about time I resurfaced in blog-land and joined in with "My Creative Space" for the first time in 2010.
Something that has been soothing me recently is my return to knitting cotton dishcloths. I just love them! I love knitting them and I love using them. Some are designated dishcloths and others are washcloths for the bathroom.
I've just listed all these dishcloths in my Etsy shop.....
Unfortunately I have found that my little puppy loves my cotton dishcloths too......or at least, she love the cotton yarn I use to make them. Look what she did to this ball of cotton!
It took me 45 minutes and a cup of coffee to untangle this mess. (Actually it was mildly relaxing - almost meditative - sitting out under the pergola listening to the birds whilst I untangled......but don't tell Molly that!)
Off to visit some other creative spaces now via Kirsty's blog Kootoyoo. Why don't you join me?
This Easter card is so quick and simple I made it in three different colour combos! The sentiment I created in Microsoft Word and printed out. The eggs are simply punched out of Stampin' Up patterned papers and mounted on coordinating coloured cardstock. Voila! It doesn't get any easier than that. Check out these and more in my etsy store Anita Meade Creations.
Happy Monday all! I'm off to run some errands now.
