My cards are generally very simple. I like them to be quick to make and classic looking. I think this bunny silhouette card fits the bill. This type of card showcases the beauty of the patterned paper, and let's face it there are so many stunning designs out there it's hard to choose which one to feature.
I found the bunny silhouette online, printed it out and then used my lightbox to trace it onto my patterned paper. I then carefully cut him out with my paper snips before putting all the pieces of my card together.
Hope you like this bunny silhouette card. I'll be back with another Easter card to show you tomorrow. Remember that this, and other Easter cards are available to purchase at my Etsy store Anita Meade Creations .
I've seen this YouTube clip floating around in blogland a bit lately and I think it has a really powerful message for us Mums. Watch, reflect and enjoy......what you do IS important.....more important than you perhaps realise.
He looks cool, calm and relaxed waiting for his swimming lesson to begin, but on the inside, this boy is jumping for joy.
It has been a year since Jayden's 2nd set of grommets went into his ears. On Tuesday we went for a review with the ENT specialist, who confirmed that the grommets were out of his ear drums and about to fall out of the ear canal. He told Jayden that he could get his ears wet now, without ear plugs and a cap in place. The smile on Jay's face was radiant! He really was overjoyed. He's been so patient with this set of grommets (he was only 4 when his first set went in) but in the last couple of months he's been completely "over" the whole swimming cap routine.
The unfortunate news is that in the last couple of months, since the grommets have come out of his eardrums, his hearing has really deteriorated. The specialist confirmed this with a couple of simple tests, and he wants us to go for a full audiology assessment. The likely outcome is yet another set of grommets and another year of the "earplugs and cap" routine for Jayden. Poor kid. I really feel for him. But the last thing we want is for him suffer academically or socially because of poor hearing.
Until his next set of grommets, which I guess will go in in about a month, he will enjoy the freedom of feeling the water through his hair. And loving every minute of it!
Thought I'd show you another one of my Easter cards today......this one is another cutie:
The little bunny was made using four of my punches. The sentiment was done in Word and printed on my Epson printer. The Stampin Up! cardstock colurs are Elegant Eggplant and Certainly Celery.
I've made a huge stack of Easter cards, so I'll be showing you one design each day here for the next week. I'm also planning to list my cards for sale over in my second (which was actually my first) Etsy shop Anita Meade Creations , so if you'd like to purchase some, head over there for a better look.
I'll be back again later with some other waffle about life here in "Meade-ville" - there's never a dull moment! Thanks for stopping by. Love Anita. xxx
I really love Easter cards, and the Easter celebration in general. What I dislike about Easter is the overload of chocolate I consume. It merely adds guilt and kilos to my life! A little bit is lovely, but a lot is just a bit sickening. Anyway, I've cracked open my Easter stamp set (pardon the pun) "A Good Egg" and this is what I came up with. The general design is a CASE from someone over at Splitcoast Stampers (can't remember who at this moment, but if it is you....thanks for the inspiration).
I just love this little chickie! Can't get enough of him. It's been so much fun playing with my stamps and paper etc lately. I'm feeling creatively rejuvenated after a big break - that is a wonderful thing. Perhaps it's a sign of the beginning of an improvement in my health. I'm certainly looking toward the future more than I have in a very long time. As I have said before, fingers crossed.....
By the way, if you're wondering where Making Merry Mondays have gone this year......I simply can't bring myself to make Christmas cards until after Easter. One religious holiday at a time thanks! lol! Look for their return in mid April.....
Short and sweet for today. Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back with more very soon. Love Anita. xxx
Some of you may have seen some of these pics over at my Everyday Images blog, but I thought I'd post them here anyway, plus a few extras. These are some of my February faves.....
Sunset from our front verandah. That tiny black speck in the centre is a plane that I didn't see at first!
Royal Gala apples huddled in our fruit bowl:
A lovely rusty bell hanging on the door of our buffet:

Roses on the table for a lunch with friends:
Finally there is this glamorous image. It was taken by Danny - this is Molly waiting by the door for me when I popped out to pick up a few things from the shops one afternoon. Please note the very unlady-like posture! Funny girl.
Thanks for stopping by - with Molly waiting for you at the door like this, why wouldn't you? :)
This box of hair colourant has been in my bathroom cupboard for months. I even opened it up and got ready to apply it, and then changed my mind. I've been trying to decide whether to keep colouring my hair or not. It's been a big decision.....it might seem silly to some, but to me, this is a major change.
You see, ever since I was about 18, I've been dying my hair. There's been various shades of blonde, brown and even a bright red over the years. I've had fancy salon colours and back-to-basics, do it yourself home colours. In the last few years I've been going for a more natural look. A light brown that resembles (what I think is) my natural colour.
It's not that I didn't like my natural hair colour. It's just that with all the influence from peers, fashion, tv etc. we're lead to believe that our natural hair colour is "boring" or not stylish. So I started colouring. And once you start it's so hard to stop. There's that icky "re-growth" to deal with and it can look really bad.
But with all the health problems I've had, I have had to take a serious look at all the chemicals I'm exposed to. Hair colourants have plenty! Just look at the list of warnings and the ingredients on this box. Pretty scary really - not much natural stuff in there!
Besides all the chemicals, hair colouring is expensive, messy, time-consuming and, I've come to realise, pretty unnecessary.
So I've decided to "go natural" I haven't coloured my hair for about 6 months and I'm going to grow out all the remaining colour. And you know what: I actually really like my natural colour. My hair is much healthier since I stopped colouring it. I don't have any grey hair yet and I'm not sure how I'll feel when they start to appear, but at the moment I think that going natural is for me. There is nothing wrong with the hair colour God gave me! It is only fashion/media who tell us that it's "not good enough".
So this is me today, el naturale. It's hard to tell in the photo where the fake hair colour stops and my real hair colour begins. It's just above the level of my eyebrows. I think it's ok, so I'm going with it!
Anyone else out there who has decided to give hair colouring the flick? I'd love to know. Thanks for listening to my waffle! Come and visit again soon. Love Anita. xxx
Just popping in quickly today to show you my 2nd layout for the year! Wow, I'm on fire!
While flipping through a box of photos the other day I found this gorgeous photo of Corey and his mate Corey at kinder. They get along really well and think that it's pretty special that they have the same name - they even have the same middle name. Don't you just love the wigs?! I think they miss their fun days at kinder. School is so much more serious.
Thanks for stopping by today. I feel my crafty mojo rising, so pop in again soon to see what else I've been up to. Love Anita. xxx
Overall, I'm incredibly pleased to report that the "milk test" was a big success. I drank a glass and a half of milk without any noticible reaction. I have to admit, I still felt a bit "gluggy" and mucousy (excuse the descriptive terms!) in the back of the throat. I think perhaps many people probably have some of this sensation when they drink milk (?) so I'm not too disheartened. I didn't have any nausea, bloating, abdominal discomfort, wind etc. Nor did I experience any "hayfevery" type reactions - sniffling, running nose, sinus congestion, sneezing etc. I am going back for another treatment tomorrow, and the first thing Maria (my NAET) practitioner will do is check if the treatment has "held". If not (as is possible with some more deep-seated allergies) then we will re-treat for milk, but I'm pretty sure it has been successful. Amazing stuff!
Thanks to all those who have shown an interest in how this is going. To answer Nikki's question, I believe that all allergies can be treated using NAET, including animal allergies. I am highly allergic to horses, and to a lesser extent cats, but as I'm not in frequent contact with these animals, they're not a priority for my treatment. From what I have read there are a basic set of tests and treatments that are done before more specific problems are tackled (but don't quote me on this!). I'm really keen to be treated for avocadoes as I love them but they produce an instant mouth/throat itch and swelling of the lips. When I am treated for avocadoes, and have no reaction at all, is when I will really, wholeheartedly, conclusively know that NAET works. Until then I will just have to see how I am feeling overall - whether the fatigue, the headaches, the body-aches and the brain fog lessen as the treatments progress.
I'm also learning to "self-test" for allergic substances using kinesiology (this is in Dr Devi's book "Say Goodbye to Illness"). Today I self tested for coffee and found that I reacted to it - I didn't react to tea however, so I guess I'm going to be a tea-totaller until I'm treated for coffee (damn!)
I'll be keeping a record of my progress here, so feel free to check back to see how it's going if this is something you're interested in. Thanks for stopping by. Tomorrow I have (shock horror!) another scrapbook page to show you. See you then. Love Anita. xxx
As I type this, I am sipping (a little nervously) on my first glass of cow's milk in years and years. While I haven't been completely dairy free for much of my life, I have avoided drinking cow's milk (or having it on my cereal, in my coffee etc.) for a long, long time. Yesterday I had a NAET treatment for milk, and, after waiting out the 25 hour avoidance period, I'm free to drink the milk.
Previously a glass of milk would have left me feeling "gluggy" and "sniffly", with stomach discomfort and nausea. I'm hoping that today I will have none of that......we'll see how I go over the next hour or two. I'll pop back in and let you know.
I'm so very hopeful about NAET and how it might be able to help me. I'm also incredibly impatient....I want to see results now! I know that it's unreasonable to think that any improvement will be instant, but after 3 1/2 years of feeling lousy practically every single day, I am just a wee bit over it! I think I'm entitled to feel a bit impatient sometimes.
Tune in later today to see how the milk went if you're interested.....
