Come on over and see what crafty, creative, fun stuff I've been up to lately. And I'd love it if you could take a minute to change the link on your blog to my new home, so that your blog readers can find me too. Thanks :)
I've missed your visits and can't wait to see you at the new, improved simple.creative.life
Well, this mornings incident has prompted me to do something I've been thinking about for a long while. I've moved over to Blogger....you can now find simple.creative.life over here.
Please come and visit me there, and you can "follow" me so that you know when I've updated my blog there too. I'm hoping Blogger will be much easier to use and therefore, I'll be more inclined to pop in and post more often. And as an added bonus, it's FREE! You've gotta love that.
I'll leave my Typepad blog open for now....maybe until the end of the year.......at least until I've settled in at Blogger and have decided that it is my new, permanent home.
I'd appreciate it if you take a moment to change my link on your blog list too. Thanks so much and I'll see you at the new simple.creative.life
I just spent almost an hour writing a lovely, long, photo-filled blog post to update you on the happenings around here. It was lovely, I promise.......and then Typepad ATE IT! It is gone! If it turns up I'm post it but I'm not liking my chances. Right now I need to take a few deep breaths and calm down......and I should go and have a shower too. It is 11am. Back later, and I will attempt to remember what it was I wrote in my lost post.
This time seven years ago I'd just had my labour induced. Little did I know it would take another 10 hours for Corey to arrive! So glad he made it safe and sound because I can't imagine life without this amazing kid.
His birthday has started off with lots of excitement and prezzies. He even managed to tear up and down the street on his new Razor Spark scooter before school. Lots of fun! More birthday news later...
Went out for a walk with Molly this morning and I was bopping along with my ipod to this song. I love this song! Always have. I found myself singing along and remembering this absurd video clip. I was only seven when this song came out in 1983 so I really didn't know what to make of it. Come to think of it, I still don't! It's great though. As Molly Meldrum would say, "Do yourself a favour". Enjoy!
In my creative space this week I have a couple of cards to show you. These were made for two of my friends who are mum's from school, Mel and Nicole. As their birthdays fall only two weeks apart we went out for a combined birthday lunch yesterday. I had such an indulgent day.
Let me tell you about it. It started at 6am when I heard Jayden (8) banging around in the kitchen making his breakfast. At 6.30am he came in to our bedroom and said "Hi Mum, I've had breakfast, brushed my teeth, got dressed and I'm ready to go." What the?!! Where was he ready to go? School camp, that's where! His first ever camp. He somehow managed to fill in the next 2 hours until it was time to actually go up to the school :) Of course I snapped a couple of pics before we left.
He is such a happy, confident kid so there was no separation anxiety (from either of us) when it was time to get on the bus and head off. The excitement from the kids was palpable! I stood to wave him goodbye and he held up a quickly scribbled note saying "I love you" (awww!) and happily blew kisses and waved goodbye. He's away for two nights (one down, one to go) and I'm sure he's having a blast.
Anyway, got home from school drop-off and received a text from my dear friend Joyles asking me to meet her for a cuppa. We talked and talked and talked. I always feel energized after a chat with Joyles. She's on my wavelength when it comes to health (and lots of other things too), and I find it really helpful to swap ideas and inspiration with her. After a long, chatty, delicious brunch at Redgum Gallery and Cafe, it was time to whiz home and head out again for the birthday lunch (mentioned above). By the time my 3 lovely friends and I had wined and dined there for a couple hours it was time to pick up Corey from school.
A HUGE day for me - as you may know I usually carefully plan my activities so I don't "overdo" it healthwise - but it was wonderful. Was I exhausted and in pain that evening? Yep. But was I still happy and glad for a day of indulgence with good friends? You bet! I don't do it very often, which makes it even more special.
Thanks for stopping by. For more creative spaces, you simply MUST pop over to Kirsty's blog Kootoyoo. There are some clever chicks out there in blogland... :) Have a great day! xxx
Have I mentioned how much I love Flickr? Well I do! Whilst I've been resting and recovering from my trip to Myrtleford, I've been playing with Flickr and the Mosaic Maker at Big Huge Labs.
Thought I'd look for images of one of my favourite things....red shoes! Here's the mosaic I made tonight.
Things have been a little quiet around here. I've been away visiting my Mummy and Daddy up in Myrtleford and then had a quick overnight visit to my Sis and her family in Jindera. The boys very much enjoyed spending a couple of days with their cousins.
- Just hangin' around together - swinging on the gate kept them entertained for quite some time!
- My boys enjoyed having a turn of feeding the lambs "Sweetie Pie" and "Restless"
Thanks Jode, for taking the boys home with you so I could enjoy some quiet time with Mum.
Hey Mumma, glad you're feeling a bit better. Love you heaps....don't forget!
Probably won't be much happening at this blog over the weekend. I will need a few days to recover from my adventures.....they've worn me out! The kids are back at school on Monday, so I should be back to more regular programming here soon. Have a wonderful weekend.
GO SAINTS!.....again.
The drawn AFL Grand Final last weekend has been a traumatic affair for all concerned.
We'll be glad when it's over.....as long as Collingwood don't win!
How cute is this pic of Corey and Molly taken Monday evening? Guess whatever was on TV wasn't exciting enough to keep Corey awake. School holidays sure are hard work!
So I've signed up for a swap. It's a Christmas stocking swap run by the awesome Selina from Selina's Vintage. The stockings are due to be posted by early November. So in my typical style, I've signed up and pushed all thoughts of it to the back of my mind. After all, there is heaps of time.
On Friday, I wandered down to my mailbox and was perplexed to find a parcel in there for me. Puzzled, I looked to see who the sender was. "Nup! I don't know who this person is." I thought. Who would be sending me a parcel from New Zealand? I didn't order anything from anyone in New Zealand......
Imagine my delight when I excitedly ripped open the parcel and found that it was my Christmas stocking.....and it was filled with lots of other handmade goodies! Yay! Christmas has come early! This gift was the work of the amazingly talented Sarah from Red Gingham. The time, thought, and love that has gone into the making of the Christmas stocking and each of it's contents astounds me. Here is someone who's taken the time to visit my blog to learn about me so that her gift was nothing short of perfect. Red is my favourite colour and I do love gingham and polkadots passionately too.
The Christmas stocking is double-sided. One side is Sarah's favourite red gingham decorated with a doily and lovely red buttons......
....the other side is pretty festive patchwork and has been decorated with a "A" just for me :)
....and then there were the prezzies! Check these lovelies out:
The clear packets with the blue ornaments and chocolate coins were a present for Jayden and Corey - from Sarah's girls :) How sweet!
All the other little prezzies were so prettily wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon with handmade embelishments. Inside the wrapping paper were these beautiful things:
1. a red polkadot pincushion;
2. a super cute felt birdie tree ornament;
3. an ADORABLE roll for storing my crochet hooks;
.....here it is opened out. Sarah, until now my crochet hooks have been stored in a snaplock bag! I feel very posh!
The best thing about all of these presents is that they were handmade by Sarah. I feel incredibly lucky that she spent some of her time, energy and talent making all these goodies just for me. Thankyou so much Sarah.
Finally, this is the card that came with my presents. The beautiful artwork is by Sarah's clever daughter Molly. Thanks Molly :)
As well as being astounded by Sarah's talent and kindness, I'm also astounded by how organised she is!
I have no idea what I'm going to make for my swap recipient (who isn't Sarah, by the way) but I'm inspired to get started now.
I am a very lucky girl. I have "met" some amazing friends through blogging. Being involved in swaps is such a fun way to spread some kindness through the blog community. And who doesn't love "happy mail"?!
Thanks for stopping by to visit. Special hi to a new reader, Heather Robinson. Any friend of Laura's is a friend of mine, Heather. Welcome!
